I am an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) and the Remote Sensing in Geo- and Ecosystem Research group at Leipzig University. My research focuses on the impact of extreme drought stress on above-ground and below-ground biodiversity. I study the trade-off between above-ground and below-ground biomass and the relationship between vegetation diversity, productivity, and the structural diversity of plant roots. Additionally, I explore the role of soil biodiversity, particularly mycorrhizal fungi, in enhancing vegetation resilience to drought. I employ a comprehensive approach, combining remote sensing data with in situ measurements, in grassland and forest ecosystems to compare their responses to drought.
